Welcome. I'm glad you're here.
I have been a licensed Psychologist for over 30 years and have always had a dual focus: working with people in crisis who need immediate short-term therapy, as well as working with people who want to explore themselves and their struggles in longer, more open-ended psychotherapy. I draw on my experience working as a therapist in private practice which has been built upon my early training and experience in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, attachment research and crisis intervention.
I work with adults who face challenges which they feel they cannot work out on their own. What some people find frustrating is knowing what the problem is but not knowing how to change it. My job is to assist my clients in more deeply understanding their challenges by recognizing outdated habits and/or relationship and styles and transforming them from automatic reactions into behaviors that are governed by conscious choices. This self-awareness can bring about symptomatic relief and a renewed sense of control over one's life.
I have worked with adults facing challenges of many kinds but I specialize in helping clients recover from the often traumatic consequences of relationships with people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Everyone’s struggles are different but during these therapies my clients often regain the view that their own needs are important, they relearn to trust their own perceptions and feelings and once again feel like their true selves.
I work with people ages 17 and older. My specialities include:
Depression
Anxiety
